Suffering from Tooth Loss?
It is a huge discomfort when you have to deal with tooth loss. Natural teeth maintain the facial shape and keep the bone healthy by passing on the bite force to the roots of the teeth, which in turn stimulates the supporting bone. Therefore, tooth restorations can be beneficial both for appearance and dental health. It helps avoid the complications that can arise from missing a tooth. It also improves the chewing efficiency, so that you can enjoy the food you like. It regains your beautiful smile and makes you more confident.
What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant involves a titanium screw that gets fitted on to your jaw bone and serves as the replacement root of the missing tooth. Titanium has the unique property of fusing with the jawbone which prevents the jaw bone from further deterioration. The implant acts as an anchor by holding the replacement tooth. It also helps in maintaining the density and shape of the bone. Dental implants are considered the most preferred solution for replacing one or more missing teeth. People prefer dental implants than the traditional dentures, because they function more like a permanent tooth. Your chewing ability is also enhanced after the treatment.
The Dental Implant Procedure
During your first visit, an X-ray will be taken to assess your bone density. Then, soft plastic compound is used to take a model of your mouth. This enables us to measure the gaps where bridges or replacement teeth can be placed. Before initiating the surgical procedure, anesthesia will be given so that the patient remains pain-free during the treatment. In order to place the implants, an incision is required on the gums. The healing period will be two to six months, during which the implants get fused to your jaw bone. Then, a custom-made crown will be attached to the abutment which functions as a permanent tooth.
